Swizz Style TOM AIRWASHER 1 Humidifier
Last Updated: 07/17/2010
In September of 2010 new Air washer/humidifier will hit US market.
Made by Stadler Form and sold under Swizz Style brand it is advanced humidifier in its class.

Digital controls, humidity indicator, fragrance dispenser and very quiet operation. It needs only minimal maintenance. All you have to do is to rinse water tray and drum once in a while. Fan blows the air through a set of moist rings/plates that combined have a fairly large area and air carries water molecules into your room. This is similar to hanging a moist towel and pointing a fan at it. This system will not over-humidify the air. No wicks to buy. In addition to humidifying the air it also will collect dust and other impurities in the air onto the plates. This is why it is also called "Airwasher". When drum makes a full 360 circle - plates are submerged in the water and dust washed off and it accumulates on the bottom of the tray. This is why the drum and plates need to be rinsed once in a while. How often - it really depends on the environment and how many hours a day you have the unit working.

"A picture is worth a thousand words" so here is 9000 words worth of pictures:
How Swiss style airwasher tom works
1.
This shows how parts inside the main housing come together in the humidifier. Water bottle is placed neck-down into the tray.  (Tray contains just enough water for 22 plates/rings to be submerged edge to edge. Plates are stacked wit space between them to form the drum that is being rotates inside of the unit (see next picture)

View of the housing with tray and drum removed. When drum with is inserted back into the housing this fan happens to be right in the middle of the drum. While spinning fan rotates the drum too. Drum rings are kept wet because they have to pass through the water container and air is constantly being mover through the plates.

5.
Before you install the cover - see if you have your favorite fragrance handy. If you want to experiment with various scents or "Chanell 5" seems to be a bit of an overkill to use in the humidifier - make sure to check our fragrances . Use very little of any fragrance. If you do not like the smell - get the fragrance tray out and rinse.

Swizz Style Tom Airwasher Primaty filters
6.
Two mechanical filters prevent bigger particles or insects getting into the unit. It is a good idea to check them out and make sure that they do not look like the filter in your dryer (smile). Tom Airwasher is also called so because is "washes" dust out of the air when dust sticks to plates and later it is washed of the plates when drum completes the circle and is submerged into the water again. So these screens do not serve as the main filter but the have to be clean enough to let the air circulate freely.
