If you are not experienced vacuum repair expert but still would like to attempt replacing switch yourself - we suggest doing it at once so you will not forget how to put it back together. If you have a digital camera - snap plenty of pictures so you could look up how things are being put back together.

Few things to pay attention when installing the switch:
1. Before you dissemble - take a look where the both headlight are wires plugged in. One terminal (for the upper one) is so well hidden that have to note where it is before taking apart the Kirby.
2. Assembling you will have to know how to install slide bracket (see 2 last pictures on THIS PAGE in our Knowledge base).
Make sure the plastic gears and the primary drive belt (inside the vacuum) are clear of wires. Use cable ties.

Will fit 220 volt version
Some 220 volt units in some countries have electromagnetic interference module (EMI). Because the local laws governing their TV and Radio frequency they have to be modified not to interfere with the signal. So when you vacuum your neighbors can watch all TV channels and listen to all radio channels. For that purpose Kirby had designed this EMI module and it hooks up through the switch. This switch would still fit your Kirby but the EMI module (located under the motor) would not be connected to anything. For instalation instructions (without the module) go HERE

Your Repair Directions	Sunday, September 18, 2011
Reviewer: Nathan Strong from Seattle, WA United States

I am so thankful that I found your repair pages.
Replacing the power switch was a breeze with the instructions. Common sense would not allow me to replace. Like servicing a 1980 something GM automobile where you has to drop the tranny and motor to get spark plug #6.
I have deleted the other Kirby web site I had been using and you are my NEW Kirby People.
Service is the name of the game and you're my new team. Thanks a Million!

Switch installation instructions	Friday, February 4, 2011
Reviewer: Robert B. from Cleburne, TX United States

I just wanted to let you know back in January I placed my very first order with you (#10805). The genuine Kirby parts arrived on time and in excellent condition. Using your well documented online guide, I was able to replace out my safety switch within a hour and half one evening, saving me time and money having to take it in to a repair shop. Thank you for being an exceptional company. I highly recommend Good Vac.
