I decided that I wanted to restore my rainbow model D3C back to its original design, and this was just what I needed. After tracking down the proper spider (part number R-1976) and replacing the water basin gasket, I found this separator here for way cheaper than some very worn out genuine ones online. This aftermarket separator is very well made, and is the closest thing you're going to find to NOS. The patents expired decades ago, so if you're after brand new for your late D2 or your D3, this is just what you need! Be aware that if your D3 is equipped with the tall separator with the straight vanes, you will need to change out the spider under the separator for this part to work. You will also need the chamfered separator nut to secure this part correctly. Maybe I'm a rare case as a vacuum enthusiast, but I am glad that I purchased this!
